Great piece. Arsenal fans *are* absolutely everywhere, aren't they? Vocal and domineering with it too.

And I'm ashamed to say my first visceral gut instinct when the Partey news broke, was to use it to get back at them for their delight at snatching Norgaard from us. Then I stopped myself and reined it in. But yes - tribal idiot, checking in.

Cheers Lewis. And yeah, 100%. All tribal idiots here.

Feels like Brentford are being fully asset stripped, but are going to have a lot of money to play with. Hopefully they spend it wisely and the free kick coach steps up. Lot of time for them - another possible London club to push any future children towards.

I can see how it looks like asset stripping from the outside, but there's a lot of talk of 'evolution' among Brentford fans. We have to sell most summers, this year £65m for Mbeumo is an insane amount of money to a club of our size. As much as we love Norgaard, he's a 31-year-old midfielder who can't do the full 90, £10m is a good deal. Mark Flekken never really settled; Kelleher seems a great signing and he already knows van den Berg and Collins (who's surely a shoe-in for captain).

I've seen a fair bit of chatter that it's one not both of Mbeumo/Wissa leaving, so hopefully we stand firm on that. Replacing both would be a huge ask, although Igor Thiago has been in the building for a year and, from what little we've seen, looks like a big Toney upgrade.

I'm usually a happy clapper, however I can't pretend to be totally enthusiastic about Keith Andrews. The interview Phil Giles gave after the appointment was very positive and moved me to 'cautiously optimistic' though. Andrews has huge shoes to fill, but Phil Giles rarely puts a foot wrong.

Sorry, *massive* Brentford screed there!

No apology necessary! Exactly the response I was hoping for. I’d forgotten about Kelleher, that really is a great signing.

Yeah, fingers crossed Wissa or Mbuemo stays - no idea why the latter would risk a move to united other than the cash. Smart move is surely waiting for someone else to come in which they probs would, he’s that good.

Mbeumo was apparently a boyhood United fan, but I'm sure the quadrupled pay packet is doing a lot of convincing too. I've seen reports the asking for Wissa is £50m - I can't see many people dropping that much on a 28-year-old.

lol so do I. If they have to support a north London club, it’s the lesser of two evils
